M16 signaled my transition to using default gameplay sliders, though I still dabbled heavily with autosubs and penalties. M17 - I drifted ever closer to default.

Same things happen with the defense. I've set CPU defense sliders all to 0 and in some games the score goes to an absurd 117-0 while in others they play like it's on All-Madden with 70+ sliders. All in all, how effective the sliders are depends on how effective the game wants them to be at that moment.
