If the problem was in the gearbox,would the shaft from the wheels to the gearbox still turn? Any help would be appreciated.

Most 640's were only four bar. The fifth was an option. All 660's have 5 bars. The lift set up is a little different but not any better. All gear box, drive and bar parts are the same. We took a 640 and completly rebuilt it. We replaced every bearing in the whole rake and added the 5th bar. Recently picked up a nice looking 858a side delivery rake. Not surprisingly, it needs some teeth. Unfortunately, the 858a requires teeth with a vertical mounting stud or bolt unlike my JD 640. Are teeth with the vertical mounting bolt hole still available or will I need to modify the bar to give me horizontal mounting holes?
