Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, “persons with disabilities include those who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments which in interaction with various barriers may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others” (UNCRPD, 2006: article 1, purpose).This chapter discusses the academic challenges and effective inclusive practices for pupils with several types of childhood disabilities, such as learning disabilities, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and autistic spectrum disorders.
