The 400M crank has the correct b/e journal size and should only need the main journals turned down to cleveland size. With this stroke/rod/block combo, I ...Cleveland mains are much smaller than 351W,M, & 400. 351W and 400 bearings are different. 351M/400 and 351C use the same rod bearings. As for putting a W crank in a 351M/400, you can do it, I did it. I run an Eagle 4" stroker crank for a 351W with 400 bearings. A 400M crank used to be the hot set up to build a 408. Now you can buy a new cqst SCAT or Eagle 408 crank for less than the price of modifying a spent junkyard crank. I talked to a shop about taking a 351C crank, cutting the mains to fit a 302 and offset grinding the rod journals .100 to make a 3.6 stroke crank.

In 1976 a minor modification was made to the main webbings to strenghten them. The 351M was introduced in 1975 after the Cleveland was discontinued and uses the same block and heads as the 400, the only difference is the shorter stroke crankshaft and taller pistons.
