I don't know about efficiency but have an idea since you have more that one. Take two identical tuners that are adjusted for the frequency of interest and connect them output to output. The rig runs a pair of 813's in the final, modulated by a pair of triode-connected 813's, and is based on the K1JJ design. Charlie originally planned for the transmitter to cover 160 and 80 meters. However, it would be beneficial to extend that coverage to 40 if at all possible.

There is a 5 turn 50 ohm link wound inside or outside the big coil that connects to the rig and goes to ground. The feedline taps onto the coil, evenly spaced, and the capacitor clips to the coil, evenly spaced. Very slight warming of the coil. It was a breeze to find the 1:1 match using the MFJ 259 for 160,80 and 40M. Able to get 50 Rs and a Xs of 8.
