Nov 16, 2013 · No.4 Mk1 Date and serial questions. Following my local gun show today, I am now a proud owner of a gorgeous No.4 Mk.1 rifle. I am, however, having a bit of trouble working out the rifle's history. The rifle only has 4 digits in the serial number, and a PF prefix. The receiver markings have been painted-over at some point, and are difficult to read. It is a Ruger Mark II Competition Target Pistol (Stainless) S/N 218-11838. Ruger states that the pistol was produced in November 1984, but I find the S/N lies between the S/N's listed for 1993. I will believe Ruger, of course, but I'd feel better if I could place the pistol in a year column on my own! Thanks. Mike.
