Is tradovate good.
You can code forms. They have object oriented Easy Language (their proprietary platform language). They have tablet app for trades. They have a web page you can trade. They have a web api (haven't used it or know if its any good). Their forum for asking for help is pretty good, but it logs you out after 20 or 30 minutes which is annoying as hell.
Tradovate is decent for beginners since it's pretty low barrier to entry. Just know that NinjaTrader costs a good amount for you to use all their services but the charting and scripting features it offers are very nice. Usually with most futures brokers you can pay a monthly/annual fee so that you pay lower or no commissions per trade.TDA is a good all around broker, but it's not a futures broker. If you trade exclusively futures NinjaTrader and Tradovate are the two most popular brokers. It's not just the commission difference, but the tools they offer.pretty good starter futures broker. somewhat buggy but has a really fantastic help feature. I use Sierra Chart and Stage 5 now, it’s cheaper with same style membership and you do not get problems. If you don’t mind learning a new software that takes a while, it is way better. Candles do not lag at all, ever.
If you don’t have live market data either by paying for it through TradingView or logging into your Tradovate broker in TradingView you’ll be limited to 5 second updates. It’s live data through Tradovate. Also if you so desire you could use tradingview to actually place trades through tradovate. Tradingview has this option available for a couple of different brokers. To do it go to tradovate settings, "add ons" and look for the tradingview option. I strongly recommend Tradovate and TradingView (Pro). Tradovate has an online platform allowing you to be independent. Tradovate’s data feeds are the lowest. It's good right out of the box, lots of different commodities and currency futures for reasonable margin. $3-4k will be enough for a couple micro/ commodity contacts. I wouldn't recommend ninjatrader. Really outdated and the whole "lifetime license" is nonsense. Tradovate is focused on meeting the demands of experienced traders rather than being a solution for every user, which is common among its rivals.
